What comes to mind when you think of Valentine’s Day?
For me, it’s not flowers or grand romantic gestures. It’s nostalgia, specifically for class parties in school.
Red and pink decorations, silly little cards addressed to classmates, heart-shaped candy in all forms …
It’s innocent and genuine, like the children celebrating.
Everyone gets to celebrate love in its broadest sense, which spans far beyond romance.
At the root of these activities is the spirit of kindness, compassion and inclusion, which we humans desperately need more of in our lives.
As an adult, that’s the kind of day I choose to celebrate, with maybe a heart-shaped chocolate or two.
