“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

I couldn't agree more with this line from F. Scott Fitzgerald in “The Great Gatsby.”

I love how it captures the simple wonder of the season and serves as a useful metaphor for change.

Fall is by far my favorite season.

After July 4, I start counting down the weeks to September. There is an anticipatory energy in the air as the withering summer heat *finally* gives way to cool, misty mornings and golden afternoon light filters through leaves offering their last flash of brilliance before falling to the ground.

So often, we get stuck in the inertia of the everyday—work, meetings, errands, carpool, an endless list of to-dos. We lose sight of life’s simple joys and what truly matters.

This season challenges us to open our eyes.

Fall is a visual reminder that time is a current we can’t stop, and moments are as fleeting as each colorful leaf falling to the ground.

It’s bittersweet because we know this wonder lasts for only a short while.

As the leaves wane, our busy schedules barrel toward the holiday bustle. Before we know it, we’re marking the end of another year and the passage of this time in our lives.

But that’s also why fall is so special.

At least for now, the vibrant beauty of this season is waiting for us if we are willing to stop and look around.

It’s why I love documenting this time of year for folks.

It’s a chance to capture the magic that is fall.

Happy fall, y’all! 🦊
