I have a dear friend who LOVES Christmas, especially Christmas music—so much so, that she starts listening to it before Halloween. 


We’ve kidded each other over the years because I am the exact opposite. I love the holiday season, but I roll my eyes at the hint of Christmas before Thanksgiving, certainly before Halloween. 


But I do appreciate planning ahead, so here we are!

I’m excited to be hosting two days of holiday sessions this year: 


  • Friday November 10, 3-5 p.m. (It’s a school holiday!)
  • Saturday, November 18, 9 - 11 a.m.

Yes these sessions are in early November/before Thanksgiving, but before you roll your eyes (like me!) think about it this way:


You'll already be checking an item off your holiday to-do list. You'll get photos back in time to order and mail holiday cards all while making some special memories with your loved ones along the way.

For more than 50 years, Penland Tree Farm has been a holiday destination for families hoping to find and cut down the perfect Christmas tree.


This is my first time working with Penland, but the farm is a special place for my family.


My husband grew up going there with his family to cut down a Christmas tree each year, and it’s where we got our tree for our first Christmas in Charlotte many years ago. I took the photo above on my old iPhone as we walked the rows of beautiful evergreens against the bold blue of the clear, fall sky. Every time I look at it, I'm instantly transported back to that day on the farm--a holiday adventure I'll always remember.
